Hairstyling products can kill you!

What is it that you are putting in your hair?
Every day we use many different hairstyling products. Gel, shampoo, balsam etc are some examples. It does give your hair a glance, but does it leave your body a chance? Can the use of these products damage your body? Is it a risk worth taking using all these products?
According to gronnhverdag.no (a Norwegian page), the chemical paraben is the substance we should be most worried about. Paraben are a group of chemicals often used in cosmetic products, in fact 80 % of all cosmetics contain paraben. Not only does it disturb our hormones, but it can also be cancer developing.
In 2003, scientists proved that there was paraben involved in breast cancer. They won’t take any fast conclusions, but there are reasons to belive that the paraben from deodorants or other types of cosmetics – like shampoo- could be the source. Although EU a while ago declared that there were no connection between paraben and the cancer, this hasn’t been determined yet, so people are asked to be careful with there use of paraben. Examples of hairstyling products that contain paraben are Herbal Essences and Head and Shoulder. It that something you use every day?
Do we get influenced?
Advertisements for hairstyling products are everywhere. “Truly Healthy Hair by Head and Shoulder”, and other kind of idioms tempts with more beautiful hair. But Head and Shoulder is in fact, as I just mentioned, on the list of products containing paraben. Using it is suddenly less tempting isn’t it?
Many stars also use a lot of hairstyling products. They dye their hair, use spray etc. Can that influence us to use even more of these products? If we see our big stars use a lot of it? When we see Pink with pink hair, do we want to do the same?
A risk worth taking?
The conclusion is that hairstyling products are not always good for our body, and can in worst case give you different types of illnesses. We shall continue to wash our hair, of course, but maybe be a little more careful and critical to the things we put in it? Be a little careful with your choice and use of products, and use some time thinking about how much you actually use every day. Are these products so important that they are worth risking your health?
