Why teen are so obsessed with plastic surgery?

Some time ago, the passage between childhood and adulthood, i.e. the time to express one's femininity, was signed by the use of tweezers to give a form to eyebrows, and the first make up to enphatize your eyes. All these things are only sweet remembrances. Now the scalpel is the best friend of teens that have only one fixed idea: improve their own aspect. Surgery is not only used to solve serious problems, but requests to correct minimum defects are increasing, or better, to homologize teens to the big assembly line that want us like Barbies. The phenomenon has been so wide that the “New York Observer” defined girls, that make a precocious and exaggerated use of plastic surgeons, the “Botox-babies.” We are speaking of six thousand under eighteen-year-olds, and more than sixty thousand young people in Europe. There is an increasing trend that incites teenagers to ask for plastic surgery as a birthday present. However, the obsession for plastic surgeon is not only widespread in the West, but in the east. Complice is economic grow, that is contaminating people of every age. Flourishing bosoms for women, and new pectorals for man: we are speaking of a real obsession for Chinese middle classes. But the worrying factor is that the phenomenon sees as protagonists also children starting from the age three. Fortunately the doctors, in front of the absurd request of their parents, refuse to operated them, if only in case of malformation or accidents. But in any case, teenagers, more than their Western mates, are the surgeon's first patients. Nose and eyebrow alterations are in full swing in order to compete with Hollywood actresses (Angelina Jolie and Jessica Alba are the most requested models of perfection), or in general at the most beautiful suggested by American and European fashion and advertisement. The dream of every mother is to see dimples, natural or artificial, on the little girl's cheeks, hoping that it can be a sign of favourable auspices for a model's carrier.
The most requested operation, whether in the West or in the East, is mastoplastic additive, liposuction and rhinoplasty. But we know that people are strange: after the umbilicus, the new boundary of female perfection you find the feet. Surgeons intervene on them in the United States to fit Manolo Blahnik or Jimmy Choo shoes. “Toes are the new nose” states a Beverly Hills doctor. But there are also news for the bosom. You don't have enough money to remake it? No problems. An American web site, gives you a sponsor to pay for your implants. Nevertheless this initiative borders prostitution: the financiers want in change photos and attentions.
Also in Hollywood's planet, a celebrity is not worthy of his name, if he doesn't have plastic surgery. But the fixation to improve himself, can cross the threshold of common sense. In this way new monster are born.....a crystal clear example can be Michael Jackson, pioneer of extreme aesthetic makeover, but also Jocelyne Wildenstein; she lives with her cats, and she loves them to such an extent, to have recourse to many plastic surgeries that cost about three thousand Euros, to look like her adored felines. For her disquieting face, she is called “Cat woman”.
The opinion of every psychologist is that sometimes the plastic surgeon gives patients not only physical benefits, but also more self-confidence and security, attenuates fears that a physical defect can trigger. But sometimes, aesthetic interventions are the last hope for those people with various problems, that thinking that an attractive aspect can solve all their problems. For these reasons the patient that isn't psychologically peaceful, but that is living a moment of emotional difficulty, to convince himself that he needs these retouches is important. We have to considered that behind the request, apparently frivolous, to ameliorate one's aspect, deeper levels of a person are involved connected with acceptance, self-confidence, and well-being. For these reasons, more girl request plastic surgery: they consider beauty their pass to be accepted by the group which can cancel all their problems.
