How to learn a foreign language

Knowing foreign languages is one of the most important things for your future job. Here I’ll give you some practical advice on what to do and what not to do, especially while learning German.

Firstly, the most important thing is to know what’s your study style – with your eyes or with your ears. If you can remember something from the first time you hear it, you’re the second type, but if you love drawing tables and schemes, using different colors and copying the most important grammar – you study mainly with your eyes. I’m from those who like everything to be on separate sheet of paper, with different colors. Knowing how you study faster, you can pay attention only to that. If you study with your ears, record yourself while you’re reading the lesson. For those who are like me the only possibility is to go and buy as much colorful highlighters, pencils and pens as possible.
All said up to now can be used in each subject at school. But how to learn languages?
· Try to get use to the speech! Watch TV and listen to different songs. At the beginning you won’t understand much. But be patient!
· Find some sites on the Internet, where you can contact with native speakers.

· To memorize all the genders seems impossible! Use different colors for the different genders in your vocabulary. For example – female (die) with red, male (der) with black, neutral (das) with green.
· For German: Remember:
die: -ung, -schaft, -keit, -heit
das: Ge-, -chen, -lein
· Use cards for the vocabulary. Write on small sheets of paper your new words and use them when you have free time – at the bus for example.
· Do many grammar exercises. That’s how you’ll get used to the language.
· Start your own diary on the language! In that way you’ll soon be able to speak on different topics.
But the most important thing is to have fun with the language. Even if you don’t like it, find its good sites. Each language is beautiful in some aspects.
