Relaxation

Příbor 27. 12. 2009

Some people exploit the situation to take advantage of other people who feel under a lot of pressure.

There are many illnesses - health is only one. (Finnish quotation)

In my article I would like to write about relaxing which I consider very important, especially after physical stress (like work, sports ?). And also the inventiveness of people who can see a good opportunity to do something that will benefit them. On top of that I would also like to try to take a think about how passive and active kinds of relaxation can reduce everyday stress (for example walking, watching TV or some exercise).

A lot of people experience stress every day; the busy day doesn´t offer enough space for relaxing or spending your free time in an enjoyable way. Morever, there are many who even are unaware of the fact they also need to have a rest. Nevertheless , everyone should relax sometimes, because "There are many illnesses -health is only one"- (as a Finnish proverb says). The proverb should make people think of how prevalent the problem is.

Passive or active relaxation? The choice depends on you --- on your age, your temperament and your personality. There are almost as many kinds of hobbies and pastimes as there are kinds of people. One of the ways people relax, extreme sports, could be considered. Young people like doing them, but on the other hand, the older generation need to be more careful when choosing a hobby. It is necessary to find out that a physical load should be adopted to a physical condition, so walking or swimming seems to be a suitable and a safe way for older people to relax.

Dealing with stress is everyone's responsibility, but some people exploit the situation to take advantage of other people who feel under a lot of pressure. Very often you get offers of special and unique products which you "cannot refuse" . In a mailbox there are invitation cards for sessions with a promise to receive gifts. Well, some offers look interesting at the first glance, you may feel the need to take advantage of the offer and you often buy some of these products. But you have to be careful. Most of the offers featured are for items at extortionate prices or for poor quality gifts.

The following example shows how harmful some offers can turn out. I heard about one person who became a victim of a con-man. The person wanted to buy a TV set and there was a tempting offer advertised on the internet, but the webpage wasn´t well protected. The buyer didn´t check the security of the site and sent the money. The TV wasn´t delivered to the buyer and the seller couldn't  be located. The money was never returned to the consumer. In addition, I think, psychological stress evokes feelings not to think about the value of the offer or quality of products and money is spent rashly. Neverthless, I still believe that there are many people who want to use their money in a useful way.

Added to that, there are possibilities how to be a reasonable consumer. First, you can use the internet to find a certain product , to find out the quality and compare the prices. Secondly, the shops seem to be another possibilty because you can speak with experts about the products and, finally your friends can give advice too.

In conclusion, a rest should be an essential part of life for everybody. We shouldn´t wait for a moment when we realise the need to unwind. Everybody has hobbies and shouldn´t regret the time spent on them. In fact, if we do the things we enjoy, we will be healthy and resistant to stupid offers.
