What is yomag and who creates it?

Yomag.cz/yomag.net is an internet magazine by and for young people from all over the world. It is targeted for those of you who are concerned about lifestyles, globalization of the world, sustainable development, economy, ecology, but also music, internet, advertisement and its psychology, traveling and many others. Everyone who has anything to say and has the ambition and courage to become a real journalist can write articles and send them for publishing.

Yomag is an enormous pot of critical opinions, ideas and views. Everyone who wants can express his/her opinion, either by publishing his own article, or by a comment to an article. You can write and discuss for instance about whether the poor nations should be forgiven debts, or whether it is ethical to ban using animal furs in fashion industry, or how Bill Gates is going on making yet another blasts and so on. You have the right to express your opinion, be it whatever, unless it does not insult or offend the rights of others.

How is it done?

Easily and playfully.

Everyone who wants to publish anything has the possibility to get his/her journalist electronic account. You can get the account either from your teacher at your school, or by simple registering on-line. Your account will be created automatically; you don’t have to wait for anything. If you know a teacher at your school who has an account in yomag, ask him/her and send him an electronic request to create your account.

Once you have your own account, you can write articles, save them as concepts, send them on-line for publishing, save and send your pictures and videos, communicate with your teacher and the administrator. Teachers will help you to edit the articles. We can also help you if you wish. But don’t worry: you and only you are the authors – we will not offend your right to express your opinion.

If you don’t have a teacher to ask, never mind, you can get your account by registering on-line on the yomag main page. Just fill in a simple form and fly! The rights and possibilities of this account are the same as the one under a teacher. You just send the articles electronically to the administrator, and not to your teacher.

In both cases, you can see all processes related to your articles on-line from your journalist electronic account. You have the absolute control over it!

What languages does yomag speak?

You can send your articles and comments in English, Czech, and German. For each language, we have created its own domain www.yomag.net, www.yomag.cz and www.yomag.de. Just switch the language in journalist administration of your account and the articles will be sent automatically to a given domain. If you learn some foreign language, it is a good idea to try to write an article in this language, just like if you were writing for Washington Post or Frankfurter Allgemaine Zeitung. It has this advantage that you will get comments and critics from all people who speak the chosen language. But if you want to make sure your grammar is absolutely correct, use your native language. Your friends and relatives will be able to read it and add their opinions.

Does it cost anything?

No, all these services are free. Never pay anything to anybody in yomag!

For teachers

If you are a teacher, yomag can be attractive for you for several reasons. First, it gives you a possibility to discuss topics which you like to tackle while teaching your students. We will create a teacher electronic account for you. You will receive electronic articles by your students to this account. Once you have them, you are able to edit them or return to the author for re-writing. You can approve articles of your students to send them for publishing, discuss them at your class if you whish to, and many other things. Topics which your students write about can be a splendid theme and instrument in your teaching methodic. It just depends on you. You can also write news about some interesting event or project at your school. Share your projects and ideas with other teachers in Europe, inform them, and the will do the same for you. Of course, you also can write your own articles if you wish. And not only articles, you can even publish your own electronic polls on-line. Your students can send their voices in the on-line polls.

As in the case of student journalist account, you have the absolute control over the all process. Not only over articles, news and polls, but also over journalist accounts of your students. You are the administrator of their accounts. System has been created so that everything is done easily, intuitively, while keeping the comfort of all possible electronic functions.

Besides, in Tutors section, we are preparing a vast inspirational databank of pedagogical materials which you can use at class. The databank will have an advanced search engine by type of material, language, category, target group etc. Teachers have the option to download all materials free, but not only this, they can also upload their own materials to share with others and add their comments to them. We hope this section will become a wide international teacher’s forum where lectors from all over Europe exchange their experience.
